Guilty of being lazy! Summer is here and I don’t have much energy to do my photo shoot upstairs, too hot!
I opted to just take a stroll in the mall, check out what’s new and what’s on sale. I went with my sister in Kultura, its a big store where you can find a variety of Philippine made products from keychains to jewelries, shirts, Filipiniana Gowns, slippers, bags, etc. Almost like a department store that sells only native, high quality Philippine items.
In Kultura, I remember seeing Barbie dolls dressed in the traditional Filipina costume way back, I mean, a long long time ago when Mattel is still in operation here in our country. I couldn’t afford it, the cheapest then was Php400.00 and I was like earning only Php64.00 a day! Anyway, last Sunday, I got excited seeing a set of dolls on display. Okey, they’re not hard vinyl or plastic type, but cloth dolls!
Bunso is a Filipino word which means “youngest” (youngest child, or sibling) the name of the manufacturer that produces artistic cloth dolls. I am in no way affiliated with them nor am I paid to write about their products. I liked their craft, they’re beautiful, unique, collectible, and it’s amazing, they’re handmade. You can check out their page.
“Hand-made by needlewomen and painting artists from Cebu”
They even have their own stand.
The icon they’re holding is the Santo Niño, one of the most revered religious images in the Philippines, it means Holy Child, a representation of the Child Jesus.
Did I buy? No, because I have no budget for dolls right now and I still don’t have a display cabinet!
What colourful and interesting dolls they are.
