Thoughts On (2)

The continuing thoughts…

Oh just because Barbie is one of my favorites doesn’t mean she’s saved from my scrutiny.  I hated the 2009 (?) Barbie.  And I didn’t like how they’ve changed Barbs eyes, I kinda liked the wide eyed look of the early 80’s.

Most of the dolls that Mattel produced in the succeeding years has this face, I didn’t like the wide open mouth and the lifeless flat eyes.  But then again, of course, these are made for young girls to be played with and maybe these type appeals to them, not for oldies like me ha ha ha!

I wish Barbie will stay like this forever.  The Superstar Barbie!

These types are ok.  Forever young!

Or how about using any of these as the new face of Barbie!

Ciao!

COPY CATS OR NOT, THESE DOLLS CAUGHT MY FANCY!

I have not deboxed the Zombie Princess yet maybe next week.  Anyways, during my holiday vacation, I went to my fave toy store Toy Kingdom and took snaps of dolls that caught my fancy.  These dolls are less expensive than Barbie, Takara, Winx, Bratzilla, Monster High, etc. but I can’t vouch for the quality.

Interesting face, not cheap looking, plus the accessories are cool! I was not able to capture the whole box 😦 so I don’t know who she is.  The cartoon design reminds me of Bratz.  Price tag is @ Php349.75 about $7.79 fair enough?  Maybe, I just don’t like their stick thin legs.

And these ones below, they’re like Kurhn/Takara dolls.  I almost bought one! Each one cost Php299.75 so that’s about $6.68 and I loved the packaging.  They looked expensive.

To be continued.

ASIAN BARBIE 2002  Made In The Philippines (Richwell Phils. Inc.)

I bought this doll last year in SM Megamall along with another Asian Barbie China.   These dolls are made in the Philippines by Richwell Philippines Inc.  which used to be just a distributor of Barbies here in our country.  After Mattel closed its plant here in 1986,  Richwell took over some of the production of Barbies, the dolls are mostly Filipina Barbies in our native clothing.

Anyway, I was not really that interested in buying this & the Asian Barbie China at first, she does not look Korean, and the box has wear and tear already.  After a week, I decided to buy it coz she looked more like a Filipina, I’ll just change her dress.  I returned to the store but they were all sold out, actually there were only 4 boxes then.

I left empty handed, feeling sorry, but then ok I thought, not for me.   The next week, I was still thinking of the Asian Barbie Doll so I visited again the area, nothing…so the inner child in me kept saying “you should have bought it the first time you saw it!.”   I turned to leave when I accidentally knock down a box, I stoop down to pick it up, and from my peripheral vision, saw 2 boxes of dolls partly hidden behind a wide box at the lower part of the shelf.  I squatted to look closely, only their head/face are visible, and all I could say was OMG!  Did you just call me?

2Ds Thrift Store Sale: The Picture Taking 2

This post is getting longer and I want to cut it short (I get impatient when I don’t get the result I want, like the outcome of the pictures..etc..etc)  anywayz these dolls waited long enough so here they are, the continuation.

DOROTHY:  I’m so out of OZ!  After this, I’ll head for the corporate world!  I was from the 2007 Pink Label Edition,  there are so many versions of me produced by Mattel, for the record, I don’t talk and my ruby shoes (why’d ever called it slipper?) does not light up.

SUMMER:  Tickled Pink!  I’m Summer Top Model, of course with a Model Muse body posed.  I like this winter outfit, you may say “Summer in Winter.”

SUMMER:  2D loved my “steffie headmold.”  We do not know who owns these outfit, it has no label, she found it along with the other dresses still in mint condition, unused (she could tell!), at bargain price and the quality is not the run-of-the-mill type!  We’re lucky because she has the knack for finding good stuff!

AURORA:  From Disneyland to the street of  New York City to find our lost prince!  I enjoyed being Sleeping Beauty Sparkle Eyes of 1996, but the new me excites MEEEE!!

MS DISNEY:  Oh well, 2D calls me that because she couldn’t remember who I was!  Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty?!  Anyway at least I’m not wearing a long gown anymore because the air doesn’t circulate much with tons of petticoat & ruffles!

DSC00749

AURORA:  Was called Sparkle Eyes because my pupils/iris are made of blue crystal studs! I guess that’s what you get for sleeping too much ha ha ha!

MS DAVID:  Ok now why do I have to share the limelight with you?  You were already featured in the earlier post weren’t you?  I want my own solo picture please!

TERESA:  If it wasn’t for me posing beside you, you would looked like a ghostly apparition!  Aren’t you supposed to be Davids Unforgettable Blonde Bride?  You should be wearing a wedding gown…(he stood you up…?)

MS DAVID:  NO!  I only looked like her!  To correct 2D, I am from 2004 Birthstone Collection Ruby Barbie!

DSC00789

2D:  OK, I stand corrected, my apology.

MS RUBY:  Accepted, now how about a close up shot?

2D:  Uhm, tired, next time.  Good night.

TO BE CONTINUED…

WANNABE…BARBIE!

After work today I took a short trip to my favorite toy store TOY KINGDOM to unwind and check out what’s new since Christmas is fast approaching.  Of course, the first thing you see is the big picture of Barbie’s face (I really don’t like this version.)

TOY KINGDOM MEGAMALL

TOY KINGDOM MEGAMALL

Anyway, I found a few copy cats (?) of Barbie inside and their packaging was the ones that really caught my eye.  Quite impressive.   For someone on a tight budget, these dolls will do, although they don’t have the same quality like Barb, they are attractive enough to cheer up little girls.  I rarely buy copy cats unless they pass my taste like my Silkstone Barbie clone.  I do not condemn these cheap imitations because they also have their advantages like for those who can’t afford the original expensive ones, these are good replacements and you get the same “feeling” of having one that is…..if you’re not too discriminating.

My First Fashionista Barbie, etc.

I found this doll 2 years ago, naked with only her shoes on!  She is Girly.  I felt so lucky I paid only Php130.00 bucks (in US dollars that would be $3.00 only) in good condition.  During that time, I wasn’t too eager to buy one from department stores because, honestly speaking, I didn’t like the facial expression of these dolls.  They looked flat and has no dimension (for me its how I see it…my own opinion) and of course I can’t afford it  ;-p

Another find is this ANTM (America’s Next Top Model) Doll named Sidney Sienna!  I liked her make up/face paint, her sandals (and her parted toes! which I wasn’t able to snap a close up) but like the model muse Barbies, she can’t bend her legs.
